What to Pack for Italy: Portofino and Lake Como Edition
Alright, I see the DMs about sharing alllll the details for what we packed for Italy, so I wanted to get on it. Since we’re here for essentially two trips (1. Portofino which was just Paul and I and 2. Sophie & Christophe’s wedding at Lake Como), I wanted to plan all my looks out carefully to make sure I had everything I needed for both destinations.
Packing for Portofino
For our romantic trip to Portofino, I knew I wanted to pack clothes that were stylish yet comfortable. The cobblestone streets and hilly terrain called for practical footwear, so I made sure to pack a pair of chic yet comfortable flats and sneakers for long walks along the waterfront. I also packed plenty of sundresses, light sweaters, and a versatile jacket for cooler evenings. And of course, no trip to Italy would be complete without a selection of stylish sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat.
Packing for Lake Como
Sophie and Christophe’s wedding at Lake Como called for a more formal wardrobe, so I made sure to pack an elegant gown for the occasion. I also packed a few dressy separates that I could mix and match for different events throughout the weekend. In addition to formal attire, I also made sure to pack more casual outfits for exploring the picturesque towns around Lake Como and taking boat rides on the lake. Comfortable yet elegant wedges were a must-have for navigating the uneven terrain, and a lightweight shawl was essential for covering up during cooler evenings.
Essential Items
In addition to clothing, I made sure to pack a few essential items to make our trip as comfortable as possible. A compact umbrella and a foldable tote bag were essential for unexpected rain showers and spontaneous shopping trips. I also made sure to pack plenty of sunscreen and insect repellent to protect against the harsh Italian sun and pesky mosquitoes. A universal adapter for electronics and a portable charger were also essential for staying connected and powered up on the go.
Conclusion
In all, packing for two different trips within Italy required careful planning and consideration of the different activities and events we would be participating in. By packing a mix of stylish yet comfortable clothing, formal attire for the wedding, and essential items for different scenarios, I was able to ensure that I had everything I needed for our journey through Portofino and Lake Como.
